Community Highlights

In all of our community programming, we aspire to support you in building and maintaining connections with one another. The heart of our community lies in the relationships we create with one another, and our one-off community programming provides intentional, warm and curious spaces to explore these relationships. Take a look at some examples of community programming and groups that exemplify these spaces, and make sure to keep an eye out for upcoming one-off programs on our program calendar.

Annual Camping Trip

Our annual summer camping trip is geared towards everyone in the Kavana community -- kids and adults alike. If you're newer to Kavana, or looking to get to know other members of the community that you might normally not cross paths with, then this is the trip for you! There will be a nice mix of scheduled meals and activities in addition to a lot of down time for games, hikes, s'mores, etc. Registration is now open - find out more details here!

Summer Socials

During the summertime, when our program calendar concludes and our staff works on our programs for the following year, our partners organize programs to socially gather with Kavana community members that live in their neighborhoods. It’s a great way to get know your neighbors better, and make new and easy connections! If you’re a Kavana partner and aren’t a part of your partner neighborhood listserv yet, let us know!

Social Justice

Members of the Kavana community are passionate about making the world around us a better place! We engage in this work from the inside out, beginning from a place of intentionality around our own education and spiritual growth, and then engaging -- often in collaboration with partner organizations -- in community service and advocacy.

At present, Kavana Partners are supporting the Southend Tiny House Village in partnership with Minyan Ohr Chadash, partnering with the Jewish Coalition for Immigrant Justice NW, engaging in a pen-pal partnership with support from Matir Asurim, and supporting ongoing efforts towards criminal justice reform together with a multifaith coalition.

Kavana 60+ Group

All folks in and around Kavana who are above 60 years old are welcome to join our 60+ group! Our community members self-organize small groups for connection, activities, and more. We have an active listserv where folks keep each other updates on the small group activities. Please reach out if you would like to be added to the listserv, or want to be connected to a small group!

Young Adult Affinity Cohort

Our Young Adult Affinity Cohort is organized by our community members, with the support of our staff. The group self-organizes monthly gatherings, from happy hours to home-hosted hangouts, to everything in between! Interested in organizing a Young Adult gathering? Reach out! And, keep an eye out on our program calendar for our next event.
