Tisha B'Av

This event is co-sponsored by The Kavana Cooperative & Jconnect Seattle.

Tisha B'Av (the 9th day of the month of Av) is the date on which both the first and second temples were destroyed (same date, different centuries), and is a day of mourning for the Jewish people.  It might be the saddest day in the Jewish calendar, yet the tunes are hauntingly beautiful.

We'll get together as a community for learning, singing and the chanting of Lamentations/The Book of Eicha.

We will be facing east, toward Jerusalem.  We'll see the sun set, the skies darken, the moon rise over the Cascade mountains and the stars come out over Lake Washington.

Date:  Mon. August 8
Time:  8pm
Where:  Magnuson Park (at Sand Point Head/Kite Hill)
Here is a map of the park.  And here are directions to the park.

Note:  Parking can be a challenge, especially if it's hot out - give yourself plenty of time.
Bring:  A sweater.  A flashlight.  A blanket to sit on.
Another note:  We will all be sitting on the ground.  (It's not supposed to be too comfortable.)  But if that would prevent you from participating, bring a lawn chair!
