Tu B'Shevat Restoration Project with EarthCorps

In honor of Tu B'Shevat (Judaism's birthday of the trees), Kavana is teaming up with EarthCorps and The Green Seattle Partnership to work on a forest restoration project in Discovery Park. EarthCorps (a local non-profit) will be providing us with their guidance and expertise, and Kavana will provide the volunteer labor.  (Don't worry - this will be fun!)

Date:  Sunday, February 12th
Time:  10am-2pm (if you can't stay the whole time, that's okay - come when you can and leave when you must.)
Location: Discovery Park in Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood (directions are below).
Who:  This event is open to the whole community -- all are welcome (kids, adults, everybody)!
Bring:  
- A layer of older clothes that include long pants, long sleeve shirt and a jacket
- Durable footwear such as work boots, hiking boots or running shoes
- Rain gear
- Lunch
- Water

Jewish Learning:  During lunch, adults will talk about the meaning and history of Tu B'Shevat, and the Jewish connection to trees and evironmental protection.  Kids will play.

From I-5 take the exit for NE 45th ST. From the exit ramp, head WEST (a left hand turn if you are coming from the south and a right hand turn if you are coming from the north) merge onto NE 45th ST. Follow NE 45th ST west. It travels under US99 and then becomes 46th ST and then N MARKET ST as you near Ballard. From MARKET ST, turn LEFT onto 15th AVE NW crossing over BALLARD BRIDGE. Just as you leave the bridge, turn right onto W EMERSON ST. Follow W EMERSON ST to a 4-way intersection where you turn RIGHT onto GILMAN AVE W. Stay on GILMAN AVE W as it turns into W GOVERNMENT WAY. Follow W. GOVERNMENT WAY into Discovery Park where it turns into DISCOVERY PARK BLVD. Follow Discovery Park Blvd and EarthCorps event signs to the North Parking Lot near Daybreak Star Cultural Center. Park in North Parking lot and look for EarthCorps staff.
