Shabbat in the Park
Join us on Friday evening to welcome Shabbat under open skies, in a neighborhood park. It'll be a vegetarian potluck (eggs & dairy okay) with a Kabbalat Shabbat prayer service first. Like Coffee Shop Shabbat, gone back to the land.
Dates:
- Friday July 16 - Magnolia Park
- Friday July 30 - Magnolia Park
- Friday August 27 - Magnolia Park
Time: 6:30pm
Cost: Free!
Bring: A sweater. Serving utensils for your dish. For ecological reasons, we invite people to bring their own plates, silverware & cups (we'll have paper plates as back-up, but would prefer to create less waste.) A picnic blanket could be nice too.
A few of you have asked what you can bring for the potluck. We'll be happy with whatever you bring, but if you'd like a few ideas:
- Those born in January & February - green salad
- March, April & May - casserole, lasagna, quiche, kugel, spanakopita
- June, July & August - dishes with root vegetables (i.e. carrots, beets)
- September, October & November - grains or beans (couscous, chickpeas, quinoa, chili)
- December - drinks, desserts or dips
Please remember to bring serving utensils for your dish too.
A note about kids: The programming is geared more toward adults than kids. There are separate Family Shabbats in the Park, with programming specifically for kids, on other days. But the park is a great environment for kids to play, and they're 100% welcome to attend.
