Jewish Identity Workshop - Israel: Facing the Difficult Questions
Surveys show that young American Jews today are far less connected to the state of Israel than their parents' generation. Jews are far more ambivalent about their relationship to Israel, and their understanding of its significance for American Jewish identity. There are a number of factors contributing to this shift. One factor, however, can be attributed to the disconnect between the Jewish communal narrative of Israel and the unresolved challenges facing the state. This class will open up some of the unanswered questions that are rarely addressed within the Jewish community.
