Prep and Practice
This program helps parents & kids prepare and practice for Jewish holidays through stories, cooking, building, and creative arts & crafts projects.
Our goal is to empower families to celebrate Jewish holidays in ways that are meaningful to them, with the community and in their own homes.
This program is for families - parents and kids all together. It is appropriate for kids ages 2-10. Families will circulate through various activities in a "round robin" format, and we will cluster families into groups based on the ages of their children.
Prep & Practice is led by Maxine Alloway, a talented Jewish educator, with a gift for drama and storytelling.
Date & Time: One Sunday a month, 10am - 12pm. The dates for 2010 - 2011 are:

- Nov. 21 - Chanukah
- Jan. 16 - Tu B'Shevat
- Feb. 13 - Shabbat
- Mar. 13 - Shabbat
- Apr. 10 - Passover
- May 8 - Yom HaAtzmaut
- June 5 - Shavuot
Cost for the 8-program series: $200/households that are Kavana partners, and $300/non-partner household. (Yes, that's per household - it includes grandparents, and as many children as you want to have!) We strongly encourage you to sign up for the series - we're trying to build a sense of community here, and the more you come, the more you'll get out of it.
First time is free: If you have never been to a Kavana Prep & Practice before, the first time is free! Come, check it out, and see if it's for you. (But please send us an email in advance so we know to expect you!)
Cost for a single program: $35/households that are Kavana partners, and $45 for non-partner households.
A note about costs: We recognize that this is more expensive than previous years. We had received a grant to help subsidize the program, but the grant is now over and these prices reflect our true costs. Having said that, we will not turn anyone away for lack of funds - if money would prevent you from participating, just contact us and we'll come up with a plan.
To Register: There is no formal registration "form" - your payment IS your registration. That's how we know you're coming!
Volunteering: As is often the case in our cooperative community, families will be asked to participate in various ways (such as bringing snack, greeting guests, cleaning up, etc.)
T
hanks to Michael & Brian: We'd like to give a "shout out" to Michael Taylor-Judd and Brian Judd, two volunteers who help run our Prep & Practice program.
Thanks guys! We couldn't do it without you!
