Sukkot on the Farm

Sukkot Farm Visit & Gleaning Project

gleaning 2011

We hope that you can join us for a morning of fun and community service at Oxbow Farm.  We'll learn a little bit about Sukkot, and observe the biblical mandate to "glean" -- i.e. to donate the crops that are left over in the field at the end of the harvest to the hungry.  (Last year, we picked many pounds of potatoes, green beans, and more, and donated them to a local food bank.)  This event is great for adults and kids alike -- all are welcome.

Details for the Gleaning Gathering:

- Time & Date: Sunday, October 16th from 10am - ~3pm (please show up as close to 10am as possible and if you can't stay for the whole day, that's fine!)

- Cost: it's FREE!

- What to bring: a picnic lunch, drinking water, any spare boxes and bags so we can pack up the produce

- What to wear: dress in layers as you never know what the weather will be like, boots and gloves are recommended, too.

- Volunteers: are needed to bring boxes and to help transport the produce to the Ballard Food Bank the following day, Monday between 8am-4pm.  Please email us if you can help!

- RSVP: please RSVP by Friday, 10/14 at noon so we can give the farmers a bit of a heads up on how many people to expect.
