Shabbat Dinner with Ruth Messinger of American Jewish World Service
We Will Not Accept a Broken World - Global Hunger, Jewish Activism & Tikkun Olam
Ruth Messinger is president of American Jewish world Service (AJWS), an organization that works to alleviate poverty, hunger and disease in the devleoping world through the support of grassroots social-change projects, and through policy advocacy, volunteer service and education about global justice. (More about Ruth)
Join us for an intimate Shabbat dinner with Ruth, for a discussion about the politics behind the global hunger crisis. Speaking from her own experiences in the developing world, Ruth will propose how American Jews can influence our government to address the root causes of hunger and poverty, and put an end to the world's growing hunger problem from the ground up.
She will also highlight the work od AJWS and the grassroots projects it supports throughout Africa, Asia and the Americas. Sharing the words of dedicated volunteers from across the Unites States - students, community leaders and skilled professionals - Ruth will tell of the enormous transformative impact we can make as global citizens working to ensure lasting social justice.
