Shavuot on the Farm 2011
Prep & Practice and the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture program) are coming together for a Shavuot-inspired trip to a farm!
We will learn about Shavuot, and its connection with agriculture. We'll also get a tour of Oxbow Farm, have a picnic, and have fun and informative programs for both kids and adults.
Everyone is welcome! (You don't have to be enrolled in Prep & Practice, or in the CSA.)
Date: Sun. June 5, 2011
Time: Prep and Practice will start at 10am, lunch around 12pm and a tour of the farm will begin around 1pm.
Bring: Your own picnic lunch, a blanket to sit on, rain coat (just in case!)...
Location: Oxbow Farm in Carnation
Directions from the Farmers: The farm is located just south of Duvall on Carnation-Duvall Road (map).
Take Highway 520 East until it ends, keeping left for Avondale Road. After a mile or so, veer right on Novelty Hill Road. At the end of Novelty Hill Road, turn left on West Snoqualmie Valley Road, then quick right on 124th. At the stop sign, turn right onto Hwy 203 (heading toward Carnation).
Now for the fun part! After a half mile or so you'll pass a red barn on your left. Looking straight ahead at this point you'll see the road bends to the left; a guardrail begins at this point on the right side of the road. Look for a gravel road on the right with a big black mailbox (10819) and an orange triangle reflector; turn right onto this road and follow along the lake to the gardens and greenhouse.
RSVP: Please contact us to let us know you'll be coming!! (We need to give the farmers a sense of how many people will be there, so please let us know in advance!)
Cost:
- If your household has paid for the SERIES of Prep & Practice or is part of the 2011 CSA group: The farm trip is free!
- Otherwise, we are asking folks to pay the Prep & Practice single session price ($35 for partner households and $40 for non partner households). Click here to pay.
