Shavuot on the Farm
Prep & Practice and the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture program) are coming together for a Shavuot-inspired trip to a farm!
We will learn about Shavuot, and its connection with agriculture. We'll also get a tour of the farm, have a picnic, and have fun and informative programs for both kids and adults.
Everyone is welcome! (You don't have to be enrolled in Prep & Practice, or in the CSA.)
Date: Sun. May 16, 2010
Time: Arrive at Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal in West Seattle around 9:30am. Take the 10:10am ferry, then go straight to the farm (we'll start around 10:45am)
Bring: Your own picnic lunch, a blanket to sit on....
Location: Sea Breeze Farm on Vashon Island
Address: 10730 Southwest 116th Street, Vashon, WA 98070
Transport There: Take the Fauntleroy ferry at West Seattle. Departure time is 10:10 am. It's a 20 minute crossing. Cost is $19 for car and driver; $4.45/adult; $3.60/kid ages 6-18. The farm is about a mile from the ferry terminal.
Transport Home: From Vashon, ferries depart at 2:30, 2:45, 3:30, 3:50, 4:10, etc. The return trip is free. Here's a link to the ferry schedule.
Carpool: If you want to chat with each other about carpooling or a bicycle convoy, post a note here, then arrange it yourselves.....
RSVP: Please contact us to let us know you'll be coming!! (We need to give the farmers a sense of how many people will be there, so please let us know in advance!)
Cost:
- If your household has paid for the SERIES of Prep & Practice: The farm trip is free!
- Otherwise, it is: $15 for partner households, $20 for non-partner households, and $5 for partner individuals, $10 for non-partner individuals.
You can make a secure on-line payment using the button at the top right of this page. (Please do pay, because Kavana is paying the farm and hiring educators, and we want to recoup our expenses.)
Thank you to Kavana partners Kate, Jane and Michelle for making this happen! And welcome to the folks from Vashon Island's Havurat Ee Shalom, a few of whom will be joining us on the farm!
