Passover 2011
Spring is here and Passover is right around the corner! Don't believe us? Listen to the kids from our Gan tell us all about it! (The words to the song mean: "Great joy - spring has arrived and Passover is on the way! Sew pockets into my clothes, and fill the pockets with nuts. Great joy - spring has arrived and Passover is on the way!")
Believe it or not, Passover is approaching quickly (the first seder is the night of Monday April 18th!)
Pesach tells the foundational Jewish story - the birth-of-a-nation narrative that all Jews share in common. At the same time, the Mishnah teaches: "In every generation, a person is obligated to see himself or herself as if he or she personally went out from Egypt." In other words, Passover is both a communal holiday and an intensely personal one.
Over the past few years, Kavana has experimented with different ways to celebrate Passover in order to maximize the communal aspect of sharing seders with family and friends, and also allowing individuals within our community to observe the holiday differently, in ways that are personally meaningful. We believe strongly that the Passover seder was designed to be a home ritual (and one that does not require a rabbi to run the show). So, once again this year, Kavana will be offering a home hospitality seder matching program, in line with our vision of "empowering participants to create a meaningful Jewish life and a positive Jewish identity."

While we can't make any promises yet - our hope is to have lots of Kavana seders with very different "flavors" (Jewishly, food-wise, etc.) happening simultaneously. Of course, we're happy to provide whatever support you might need; just say the word!
The deadline to sign up was April 10. If you're looking for a seder to attend, please see the links below. Thanks!
